Avandamet (Rosiglitazone Maleate)
Description
Avandamet is an antidiabetic which contains rosiglitazone maleate and metformin hydrochloride. This combination of medicines helps to improve blood glucose level (sugar). Rosiglitazone helps the body cell to use glucose and Metformin slows the glucose which is produced from liver. Avandamet is mainly used to treat high blood sugar levels. If blood sugar level is controlled, then prevention of heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, sexual function problems etc can be achieved.
Avandamet is not recommended:
- If a patient is allergic to any ingredient in Avandamet.
-If a patient is suffering from any kidney problems.
- If a patient is having heart problems where treatment is required.
- If a patient is having 1 diabetes; lactic acidosis; metabolic acidosis, includingdiabetic ketoacidosis; or diabetic coma.
Avandamet is not recommended for the above mentioned cases and proper advice should be taken with doctors about the treatment purpose if you find any of these problems. The doctor may change the dosage procedure or some other treatments are given.
How to use
Avandamet tablet can be taken after meal. Consult with doctor about the dosage procedures. The reaction will show after 1 or 2 weeks. For best results, take avandamet regularly and in proper time. Never miss a dose. If at all, a dose is missed, take as soon as possible but be sure that all doses are not taken at a same time during the day. If continuously more than 1 dose is missed, again consult with your doctor for the re-starting procedure.
Causes
Side effects can be obtained in rare cases while taking avandamet. Side effects by avandamet are weight gain, muscle pain, diarrhea, slowed heart beat, dizziness etc. It is better to consult with your doctor if any of these symptoms occur during the initial stage itself.
