Buspar is the trade name for the buspirone hydrochloride tablets which is used for treating anxiety in patients. The anxiety and the stress that you face in the day to day life need not be treated with Buspar. If you experience anxiety related symptoms like shakiness, jumpiness, trembling, strained face, restlessness, sweating, heart pounding, frequent urination, stomach upset, fear, difficulty concentrating, insomnia, and irritability for more than a month then you can consider taking Buspar medication. Buspar is available in 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, and 30 mg tablets. 5 mg and 10 mg are available in bottles of 100 while 15 mg and 30 mg tablets are available in bottle of 60 tablets. 15 mg tablets are available in bottles of 180 too.
The recommended dosage daily is 15 mg and the dosage can be increased by 5 mg per day to increase the effectiveness of the medication. Make sure that you are not exceeding the dosage of 60 mg per day. The maximum dosage is divided into 2 or three doses per day for consumption. You can take the medication with or without food daily at the same time regularly.
Side effects of taking Buspar include headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, nausea, and nervousness. Gastrointestinal disturbances are also found. Buspar interacts with some other drugs too. This medication should not be used with Psychotropic Agents like MAO inhibitors, Amitriptyline, Diazepam, Trazodone, etc. it should not be taken with other medications like Erythrocin, Itraconazole, and Grapefruit Juice. Patients who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors might experience increase in the blood pressure if they take Buspar. Hence it is better to avoid taking Buspar with this medication and consult your healthcare professional for recommendations of alternative medications. Physical activities in operating machines might be affected sometimes and hence it is advised not to operate complex machineries and even drive cars when you are taking Buspar. When you stop taking this medication you might find some side effects like agitation, tremor, sweating, vomiting, abdominal cramps, muscle cramps and sometimes even seizures. Such withdrawal symptoms should be known to you.
