Clindamycin is available as foam, solution, pledget and gel and can be applied on the skin. The foam form is generally used once in a day. The other forms gel, pledget and solution are applied on the skin two times in a day. The instruction on the label should be strictly adhered to.
Clindamycin should be applied only on the skin. The medication should be consumed orally at any time and the medication should never come in contact with nose, mouth, vagina or eyes. In case of accidental contact with the eye or any other part than skin, the part should be completly rinsed with plenty of water. Clinadamycin solution should be shaked well before application. The clindamycin pledgets should be kept in the foil pouch till you are ready to use. The foil needs to be disposed off properly after use.
Clindamycin is generally used to treat acne. The gindamycin can also be used to treat the anaerobic bacterial infection of the skin
The doctor should be informed if you are allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin. The consumption of other medications such as vitamins, nutritional supplements and herbal medications should be brought to the notice of the doctor. In case you are using erythromycin on skin, report the same to the doctor at once s that he can make necessary adjustments in the dosage to mitigate the possible side effects
The persons who have or had inflammatory bowel disease should not use clindamycin as their lining of the intestine will be swollen and irritated. The person who have suffered or suffering from asthma, allergies or eczema should confess to the doctor about their ailment, so that the doctor will alter the dosage accordingly or may switch to other medicine if required.
There are few side effects which can be expected while on clidamycin treatment. Report the same to the doctor if they persist and donít go away soon. The side effects are itching or burning of skin, dry or peeling of skin, oily skin, redness of skin, blemishes, pimples, head aches etc.
There are few side effects which are very serious and hence should be brought to the notice of attending physician. They are stomach cramps, bloody or watery stool, and diarrhea. Besides those mentioned here clindamycin can cause other side effects and hence those who experience any unusual problems, immediately inform the doctor to get suitable advise.
