Differin (Adapalene)
Description
Differin is the brand name for the generic drug adapalene. This medicine is available in the form of Gel and Lotion for the treatment of acne vulgaris. The Differin gel is available in strengths of 0.3% and 0.1%. The Differin Lotion is available in strength of 0.1%. The 0.3% Differin gel is available in 45g tube and the 0.1% Differin gel is available in 45g and 75g laminate tubes. The 0.1% lotion is available in 2 oz and 4 oz pump bottles.
Recommendations
It is recommended that you apply the Differing gel or lotion as a thin film on your face. Before applying the lotion or the gel it is advisable to clean the face with soap-less cleanser and also wash your hands before using your hands to apply the lotion or gel. Avoid the sensitive skin areas near the eyes. Desired results would be seen only after using the medicine for about 8 to 12 weeks. Do not discontinue in-between.
Keep these medicines in a cool and dry place. Do not refrigerate them or keep them in light. Keep them from the reach of the children and also away from heat.
Precautions
The Gel or Lotion form of Differin is for topical use in the face and other areas. Do not use it near the eyes or on the eyes. It is also not for intra-vaginal use. Make sure you are not applying this lotion or gel inside your nose and on your lips. If you have applied accidentally to these areas wash with water. Do not apply this lotion or gel in the areas affected by eczema, dry skin, sunburned skins and lesions. Better avoid products that have glycolic acid and alpha hydroxyl while you are using Differin. Avoid going out in the sun when you are using Differin. UV treatments should also be avoided when using Differin. Any other skin treatments or products that cause irritation to your skin should be avoided while you are using Differin. Use sunscreen and other protective clothing when you are out in the sun.
