Duetact belongs to a group of oral diabetes treatments that help to balance blood sugar levels, improving the signs of dangerous condition. The medication contains two drastic components, Glimepiride and Pioglitazone, that produce a significant influence on the organism, helping to manage the disorders. Duetact is prescribed for patients with type 2 diabetes, but it will not treat the symptoms of type 1 diabetes. The medication is sometimes prescribed together with similar diabetes remedies for better blood sugar control. Additionally, the pharmaceutical may be used off-label for other purposes.
Talk to your physician before the medication intake. Administer the remedy in accordance with the prescription and other directions. Never increase or decreased the adjusted settings, since it may change the effectiveness of the drug. Duetact is recommended to be used with the first meal.
Your healthcare provider may request frequent blood tests to track the route and progress of the therapy. Keep in mind that Duetact intake can sometimes cause hypoglycemia, so you should always keep a source of sugar at hand during the treatment course. A regular drug use will help you experience the best possible effects. Since Duetact is just a part of a complete treatment program, you should also do regular exercises, keep to a healthy diet and have frequent weight tests, vision exams, blood sugar tests, etc.
Contraindications and Precautions
Do not start Duetact treatment course without doctors consultation. The medication is contraindicated for people allergic to Pioglitazone or Glimepiride. Additionally, patients sensitive to sulfa drugs or the ones having severe heart failure should not administer the remedy. Inform your doctor about other illnesses and health impairments you have before the treatment course. Pay special attention to the conditions, such as history of bladder cancer, fluid retention, heart-related disorders, liver or kidney dysfunctions, etc.
Commonly safe treatment may change into an ineffective or sometimes dangerous drug if it is used together with other pharmaceuticals. Numerous prescription and generic treatments, herbal products, pharmaceutical supplements and vitamins may change the route of Duetact influence, either decreasing it or changing. Tell your doctor about other remedies you are currently taking to prevent undesirable interactions with their negative consequences. Pay ultimate attention to insulin, Teriflunomide, Mipomersen, Leflunomide, Atifloxacin, Kynamro and others.
While proper Duetact administration will result in managed blood sugar levels, its misuse will launch dangerous side effects. Call your healthcare provider once common reactions, such as headache, nausea, vomiting, minor stomach disorders, sinus pain, sore throat and others aggravate and become bothersome. Seek emergency professional help the moment you have noticed more dangerous complications, including allergic reactions (with its symptoms being swelling of the face, throat, tongue, etc.), rapid and reasonless weight gain, mild exertion and related breathing disorders, vision impairments, pale skin, easy bleeding and abnormal bruising, liver disorders (jaundice, dark urine, fatigue, nausea, vomiting), sudden pain in the foot, arm or hand, severe skin reactions and others. Since it is not a full list of possible complications, you should contact your healthcare specialist the moment you have noticed any abnormalities.
