Estrace (Estradiol)
Description
Estrace which is also known generically as Estradiol is very useful in treatment of hot flashes, vaginal itching, dryness or burning or other conditions due to menopause. It is also useful in treating vaginal or vulval atrophy. It also prevents brittle bones i.e. osteoporosis and is useful for estrogen replacement therapy after the failure of ovaries.
It also relieves the symptoms arising out of breast cancer and advanced prostrate cancer.
The working of Estrace is very simple. It replaces the natural estrogens in women [which no longer produces the required level of estrogens]. It also antagonizes male hormones and thus works for advanced prostate cancer.
Recommendations
Estrace can be taken by mouth or with food. If it upsets stomach take it with food to reduce stomach irritation.
It is advised not to take Grapefruit and grapefruit juice as it may increase the risks of Estrace's side effects so consult your doctor before including grapefruit or grapefruit juice in your diet.
Precautions
In case you miss one dose of Estrace, take it as soon as you remember but in case it’s the time for next dose, skip it. Never take 2 doses at once.
