Lamictal (Lamotrigine)
Description
Lamictal tablet is approved by the FDA to the people for the treatment of bipolar disorder. Chemical name for lamictal is lamotrigine. Lamictal is also approved for both adults and children’s. For adults, they help in the control of partial seizures (convulsions) and for children, they reacts and help in the control with epilepsy. Lamotrigine can also be used by adults and children’s for the treatment of convulsions and epilepsy in some special condition which is called as Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
How to use
Lamictal can be taken with a glass of water before or after meal. For some people, they feel uncomfortable if taken in empty stomach. In such cases, tablets can be swallowed after meal. It is recommended not to chew the tablets as they have bitter taste. Do not over dose it. Consult with your doctor and follow the doctor’s advice for best results.
Side Effects
Some times lamictal results in side effects which happen in rare cases. Vomiting, head ache, sleepiness or even rashes etc are the major side effects that can cause during the treatment of lamictal. Some special care should be taken by consulting with your doctor if you find such rashes or other effects during its initial stage itself.
Do not stop the dose until the dosage period gets over which was given as per your doctor or do not over dose even after the dosage period. Sudden stoppage of lamictal may result in severe seizure frequency or occurrence of bipolar disorder again.
