Lioresal is a muscle relaxant and antispastic that is available in the form of tablets of 10 mg and 20 mg strengths. The generic name for this drug is Baclofen. Muscle tightness caused by other medical conditions can be relaxed with the use of Lioresal so that the doctor can perform other therapies. Lioresal acts on the central nervous system to give the muscle relaxing effects on the patient. This medication is also used for other conditions as and when required by your doctor.
The dosage of Lioresal will vary with patient to patient. Hence it is better to follow the instructions and dosage given by your doctor. Do not change your dosage without the consent of your doctor.
The general dosage for adults and teens to relax muscles is 5 mg of Lioresal three times a day. The dosage should not exceed 80 mg in a day. The dosage for children will be decided by the doctor based on their age and weight.
If you miss your dose of Lioresal do not take two doses at the same time. If it is time for the next dose wait until that time and take that dose.

If you experience any allergic reaction to the use of this medicine then you have to contact your doctor immediately. In elderly patients, side effects like drowsiness, hallucinations, depressions, and mood changes might occur.
If you stop the medicine abruptly without the consent of your doctor, unwanted effects might occur. So do not stop the medicine without consulting your doctor. Some of the medicines taken for colds, allergies, hay fever, and seizures, might add to the effect of this medication. Do not drive or work on machines when you are on this medicine. This might affect your decision making skills and your motor skills. Diabetic patients should take this medicine with care as it would increase the blood sugar levels.
