Lotrisone is the brand name for the generic drug that has a combination of clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate. This drug is available in the form of cream or lotion. Clotrimazole that is available in Lotrisone is an antifungal agent and betamethasone dipropionate is a corticosteroid. Each gram of Lotrisone cream or lotion has 10 mg of clotrimazole and 0.643 mg of betamethasone dipropionate. The lotion is available in 30 mL bottles and the cream is supplied in 15 g and 45 g tubes. It is necessary that you store them in controlled room temperatures not above 30 deg C.
Jock itch, ringworm, athletes foot, and other fungal infections are effectively treated with the use of Lotrisone. For effective treatment it is necessary that you massage minimal amount of thin in the affected area of the skin two times a day. Do not apply this cream or lotion for more than two weeks. If the condition still persists consult your doctor for alternative therapies. In a week you should not use more than 45g of cream or 45 mL of lotion. If you don't see any improvement in the condition, contact your doctor for further diagnosis and treatment.
Lotrisone is not for ophthalmic use or intravaginal use. It is not advisable for use in patients who are below 17 years of age as they are more likely to absorb this drug very easily through skin. Do not use Lotrisone for treating diaper rash in babies. Leave the area applied open. Do not cover them with tight clothes or bandage. If you are allergic to clotrimazole or betamethasone then do not use Lotrisone. If you are allergic to any other corticosteroids or antibiotics, then do not use Lotrisone without consulting your doctor. If you are pregnant do not use Lotrisone as it might affect the unborn baby.
Burning or stinging sensation, redness of skin, weight gain, depressed mood, dry skin, mild itching, increased acne, thinning of skin are some of the side effects that you might experience when using Lotrisone. Apart from these you might also experience other side effects. If you are uncomfortable with any of these do contact your doctor immediately.
