Luvox (Fluvoxamine)
Description
Fluvoxamine is the generic name of the product with the brand name luvox. Fluvoxamine belongs to the group of chemicals called as serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Fluvoxamine is available as tablet or capsule and should be consumed orally. The tablet should be consumed once a day or two times a day, one in the morning and the other at bedtime.

Fluvoxamine is very effective in treating obsessive –compulsive disorder and social anxiety disorder. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is nothing but bother some thought that does not go away from the mind that easily. Extended release capsule needs to be consumed once a time with or without food. The fluvoxamine should be consumed as per the prescription of the doctor. The dosage prescribed should be adhered to the doctor’s advice. The extended release capsule should be swallowed as a whole and should never be crushed or chewed.
In general the doctor will start the treatment with small dose and will increase the same gradually. The dosage will be altered once in a week depending on the effect of the medicine and the side effects one experience.
Fluvoxamine container should be tightly closed and should be kept out of reach of the children. The container must be kept in room temperature and should not be kept near excess moisture or excess heat. The out dated medication should never be used. Just like any other medication fluvoxamine too have many side effects. They are listed below. They are dry mouth, head pain, vomiting, dia, memory problems, confusion,diarrhea,indigestion,nausea,constipation,drowsiness,difficulty in concentration, change in taste,nervousness,unsteadiness, general weakness, gas, change is sexual desire etc. There few side effects those are very serious. They are chest pain, coordination problems, dizziness, hallucination, rash, shaking of the some part of the body without control, pain,numbness,burning,tingling of hands and feet, hives, difficult breathing, seizures, loss of consciousness etc. such symptoms needs to be reported to the doctor who will stop the medication immediately and suggest accordingly.
