Today, many people have heard of such a pathological condition as pulmonary embolism (PE), which tends to increase during the last two decades. At its heart, pulmonary embolism is not a disease with a separate pathogenesis, causes, stages of development and outcomes. In most cases, this health condition is one of the outcomes of options (which in this context can be regarded as a complication) of other pathologies that are directly related to thrombus. That is why the reasons, diseases, that led to severe complications in the form of pulmonary embolism are so diverse and multi-factorial and should be treated with Persantine.
What are the main indications for Persantine use?
First of all, doctors recommend to take Persantine for curing of thrombosis and thromboembolism (prevention of arterial and venous blood clots, including heart valve replacement surgery).
Also, the drug is effective in prevention of stent occlusion and aortocoronary bypass grafts (in combination with ASA), heart failure, myocardial infarction, prevention of myocardial hypertrophy.
Persantine prevents violations of cerebral circulation by ischemic type and encephalopathy.
Some studies show high efficacy of Persantine in prevention of placental insufficiency in pregnancy complications, as well as microcirculatory disorders of any origin, chronic obliterating diseases of the lower extremities, especially in the presence of risk factors (hypertension, smoking).
With every day clinical practice, doctors advice Persantine to cure and prevent influenza and SARS, suppression of platelet syndrome in children.
Persantine mechanism of action: how does it work?
Generic Dipyridamole was originally invented as coronarodilator (dilates the blood vessels of the heart) antianginal agent. According to experimental data, the drug dilates the coronary arteries (heart blood vessels) and increases the flow rate of the coronary (heart) blood flow, improving myocardium oxygen (heart muscle) supply. By the way, Persantine increases tolerance to hypoxia, myocardial (heart muscle resistance to a lack of oxygen). When poor circulation in the major coronary, Persantine helps to improve blood circulation in the collateral vasculature (the vessels on which there is movement of blood to bypass the damaged vessel).
How to use Persantine?
Persantine medication is prescribed by the doctor to be applied inside as an antithrombotic (anti-clotting) agent to 0,025 g (25 mg) three times a day.
If you need to treat angina, take the medication inside (on an empty stomach one hour before meals) at 0. 025-0. 05 g (1-2 pills to 0,025 g) 3 times a day. In more severe cases, 0. 225 g (225 mg 3 pills 0,075 g) per day in 3 divided doses. The treatment lasts from several weeks to several months.
Ask your doctor about necessary Persantine dose in your particular case and follow all his instruction about intake.
Persantine side effects, contraindications and precautions
The drug, like all other meds, is not avoid of contraindications and side effects. And even despite the fact, that they are mild and rare, every patient should be aware about them before treatment course.
Contraindications to the use of Persantine drug include: hypersensitivity, acute myocardial infarction, commonly sclerotic coronary atherosclerosis, GOKMP, decompensated chronic heart failure, hypotension, severe arterial hypertension, severe arrhythmia, peptic ulcer, unstable angina, COPD chronic renal failure, bleeding diathesis, breastfeeding and small babies.
According side effects, so Dipyridamole was generally well tolerated. In some cases, there are short-term reddening of the face (a vasodilator effect), increased heart rate, allergic skin rash.
