Retin-A is the brand name for the generic drug tretinoin topical. This drug is also sold in brand names like Avita, Renova, Altinac, Retin A Micro Gel, and Tretin-X. Retin=A is used in the treatment of Acne. Different brands are used for different purposes. Renova is used in treat wrinkles. Retin-A is available in 20g and 50g tubes and pumps.
Use Tretinoin for the time prescribed to you as it might take some time to get visible improvements. It might take weeks and even months to get the desired result. Hence it is necessary that you use Retin-A continuously without giving up. While treating acne the condition might get even worse during the start of the treatment and then you will get to see the improvement in your skin condition. It is necessary that you wash your skin properly before applying Retin-A. Wait for about 15 minutes after washing, before you apply this medication. It is recommended to store this medicine away from moisture, heat, and sunlight. Also keep them away from flame.
When you are using Retin-A do not expose yourself to sunlight or sun lamps. It is also necessary that you do not expose to UV rays. Topical application of Retin-A might also affect your baby if you are breast feeding the baby. Consult your doctor before you use Tretinoin if you are pregnant. The results are using Retin-A are not seen immediately. So there might be a tendency to use it often. Avoid such tendencies as it might lead you to some side effects. Use it as long as it is prescribed to you by your doctor. Do not apply Retin-A to wet skin. It might cause irritation. Interaction of Retin-A with other topical medications is possible. Some medicated soaps and cleansers, products with alcohol in high concentrations might interact with Retin-A. Better avoid such products. Peels of limes might also affect Retin-A. Do not use benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur, and resorcinol preparations with Retin-A.
