Tindamax is the brand name for the generic drug Tinidazole. Tindamax is an antibiotic that is used to fight infections caused by bacteria in the intestines and the vagina. This medication is also used in the treatment of STDs. Tindamax is available in strengths of 250 mg and 500 mg. Recommendations

Tindamax is used for treating Trichomoniasis, Giardiasis, Amebiasis, and Bacterial Vaginosis. For treating patients with Trichomoniasis the recommended dosage is 2000 mg. This 2000 mg can be given as a single dose with your food. In treating Giardiasis the maximum recommended dosage is 2000 mg per day. For treating children with Giardiasis a single dose is given depending on the weight of the kid. 50 mg per kg of weight is the recommended dosage for the kids. For treating Amebiasis in the intestine 2000 mg per day for about three days is given with food. For Amebic Liver Abscess the same dose for 3 to 5 days is given. For kids 50 mg per kg per day for up to 2000 mg is recommended. In the treatment of Bacterial Vaginosis 2 g of oral dose per day per dose for two days is given or 1 g for 5 days is given.

Precautions

It is advised not to use Tindamax during the first three months of pregnancy. Women who are breast feeding their baby should not take Tindamax. Patients who are allergic to metronidazole should also not take Tindamax.
