Valtrex is used for the treatment of herpes zoster. Herpes is a disease which cannot be cured. So valtrex is used. Even after treatment, there is a possibility to spread herpes again. Since valtrex is used in adults, it is recommended to have a safer sex practices during the treatment period.
How to use
Consult your doctor’s advice for the dosage procedure. Medicine should be stored at room temperature in a tightly closed container. Do not stop the medicine until the completion of dosage period provided by the doctor. Do not miss any of the doses. If any dose missed, then take as soon as possible and make sure that all doses are not taken at a same time. For the treatment of cold sores, valtrex should be taken two times in a day with a time gap of 12 hours on each tablet. The tablets can be taken in the morning and in the night before sleep. On such cases, the treatment should not exceed more than one day.
Valacyclovir is an antiviral drug which is the hydrochloride salt of L-valyl ester. It has been converted into acyclovir from vivo which are marketed in the name of valtrex. Its chemical name is represented as 2-[(2-amino-1,6-dihydro6oxo9Hpurin9yl)methoxy]ethyl ester, monohydrochloride. Each caplet is equivalent to 500mg or 1 gm of valacyclovir and also contains some inactive ingredients like carnauba wax, colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, FD&C Blue No. 2 Lake, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, povidone, and titanium dioxide. Valacyclovir hydrochloride’s molecular weight is 360.80 and molecular formula is C13H20N6O4•HCl.
