Xenical is a fat blocking agent and absorbs the fat in your blood stream. It forms an ideal obese management system, that checks weight loss and maintenance of body weight. Maintenance of body weight is necessary, when a person is put on low-calorie diet in case of certain diseases such as cardio-vascular diseases or coronary heart disease. The medicine also finds its use in other treatments, than mentioned in this drug manual. It is important to go for a check to your physician for taking the medicine for reasons contained beyond the scope of this medication manual.
Prior to administering the medication, it is advisable to consult a doctor. You should have the medicine as prescribed by your physician. Never exceed the prescribed dose or take for long period than recommended by the physician. Strictly, adhere to the instructions that are given in the label. Physician may vary the dose of the drug so that you get best results. Take the dose with plenty of water. The medicine is taken with the fat rich diet (maximum of 30% of calories of fat), or after an hour of having the meals. It is good to divide your routine consumption of carbohydrates, fat, protein with the three meals in the same proportion.
Consult the physician for rich healthy diet. Furthermore, you can adjust the dose of Xenical according to the quantity of fat in your meal or diet. Xenical taken after having fat rich diet might result in gastrointestinal tract side effects. Abstain from taking overdose of the medicine. Experiments with doses as high as 120 mg three times a day, have proved futile in making the person lose additional weight.
Xenical has the tendency to decrease the consumption of fat-soluble vitamins in your body. In order to have a complete balanced and nutritional diet, the physician might prescribe you multivitamins such as vitamins D, E, K as well as beta-carotene. Have vitamins every day, 2-hours before the medicine or 2-hrs after having the medicine. Store the medicine at room temperature, away from humidity and heat.
Xenical should not be taken without consulting your physician if you are suffering from malabsorption issues or problems with the gallbladder. It is highly recommended that you do not take Xenical if you have the above-mentioned diseased conditions in your body. It is advisable to see a doctor if you have diabetes, kidney stones, bulimia or anorexia. Try other weight loss medicines like cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune etc.).
