Zestril is a brand name for a drug that belongs to ACE inhibitors. Its generic name is Lisinopril. It is mostly used for treatment of CHF, hypertension and may also be prescribed for faster recovery after having a heart attack.
Recommendations for Use
Zestril should only be taken as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The dosage may be changed by your doctor occasionally for a better result. It is dangerous to change the dosage of Zestril or the length of its use without consulting a doctor. The medication is taken once a day. The dosage for a particular patient is determined by a doctor based on many factors, including the presence of other health problems and severity of the disease.
While taking Zestril, it is recommended to drink water often during a day, however, the drug can be administered regardless of taking food. In order to control the effectiveness of Zestril, your blood pressure should be checked regularly and sometimes blood tests should be taken as well. If any side effect occurs, notifying a doctor is very important. If Zestril is prescribed for a patient with hypertension, no pausing or stopping should take place even if a patient feels much better. In order to avoid feeling dizzy, a person taking Zestril should not get up too fast from any position. It is better to stand up slowly.
The drug should be stored away from heat.
